This is a form of sensor technology which could be used to detect phenomenon. In 2152, Daniels provided the specifications for two extremely advanced cloaked Sulibon ships. The positron based beacons were mounted on the grappling arm of the Enterprise and deployed. Successfully they were used to penetrate the cloak og the cruiser and allowed Archer, Tucker and T'Pol to board the vessal and find proof of the Cabol framing Enterprise for the destruction of Paraagon II mining colony. The Enterprise later penetrated Romulan mine cloaks.
